Hello, Second Grade! My name is Alexis DeWald, and I am so excited to be your teacher this year! This is my first year in second grade, but I have taught fourth grade for four years and preschool for seven years. I hold a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University.

When I’m not at school, I love to explore and find new adventures. You can usually find me enjoying the great outdoors—whether I’m walking, biking, or even trying out cross-country skiing, which has quickly become one of my favorite activities! I also have a passion for board games and anything related to outer space. My home is filled with lots of happy plants and animals.

I can’t wait to help you grow and learn this year as we build the next generation together! Let’s make it an amazing year!

Hello 2nd grade! This is my 14th year of teaching and my 11th year at Buder. I have taught a mix of first and second grade. I am married and have a 7-year-old daughter named Carleigh, a 3 year old named Parker, and two dogs named Maisy and Meadow. In my free time, I love to cook, go on walks with my family and watch shows with my family. Fun fact: I am a huge Sci-Fi fan!

I am looking forward to an exciting year with your children.  There are so many wonderful and new things your children will learn this year. They will grow as readers, writers, and thinkers.  Let's enjoy the journey together!

Welcome to Second Grade!  My name is Melanie Russell. This is my third year teaching second grade at Buder. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education from the UMSL.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my dogs and husband, reading, doing puzzles, and exploring the outdoors.

My goal as an educator is to inspire a love of learning in each of my students and to support them as they grow. Here’s to an amazing school year!
